Garside & Webb Auctions (A Donelly Auctions subsidiary) is one of Perth’s largest auction houses, specialising in antiques, estates and valuations.

Experiencing tremendous growth from the outset, the company’s site quickly became the ‘go to’ online destination for West Australian collectors. Therefore, to keep up with growing demand, Garside & Webb knew it needed to enhance its web presence for both collectors and sellers.

The site’s overall look and feel is simplistic yet sophisticated, and sharp in order to support the company’s goal of selling eclectic, high-end goods and properties.

We first developed an online auction catalogue and notification system based on the Joomla Content Management System. This gave the client the ability to easily add and manage auctions, complete with catalogues and extensive image galleries. The site also allows visitors to sign up for auction alerts and receive automatic notification of particular types of auctions (according to keywords, interest areas, etc).

Once a user browses an auction, he/she can use the online ‘print’ function to print out a nicely formatted one-pager of the auction specifics and thumbnails of each item image.

To support sellers, the primary source of revenue for this client, we created an online ‘evaluation request’ function for users to upload an image of their item for professional valuation.

A separate real estate section of the website enables staff to upload and manage properties and associated images. A novel image-mouseover capability lets visitors quickly move from one image to the next.
