Backend Booking Features

A tight, functional back-end is the first requirement of any booking system. Fido's administrative simplicity takes all the stress and confusion out of performing management tasks, allowing the user to quickly and efficiently attend to every aspect of bookings and promotion.

Having logged in to the site administration through the front-end, using their unique username and password, the user interacts with the system through five channels: rooms, bookings, packages, specials, and news management. The following is a brief overview of each.

Managing Rooms

Through this function the user controls room availability, and generates the description content that customers will see. The administrator selects the type of accommodation they wish to examine though a scroll function, and from there they can either edit the room description and details, or view and edit its availability. The user can choose to view the room availability in the exact format their customers will see at the front-end, or to control and edit availability through Fido's management system.

Specifications concerning the number of rooms available, pricings and the minimum stay required are altered through this interface. Information fields are displayed in a row for each date within the selected time period, descending the page in chronological order. Individual copy, paste and save functions for each date improve finesse and speed of use, and a 'Stop Sell' function allows the administrator to immediately halt bookings. The room management system is an Ajax application, which means that volumes of discrete information can be updated with great ease and simplicity.

Managing News

Events and announcements to be displayed on the front-end website are created, edited and organised as individual articles. Basic information on the status and contents of each are displayed collectively in a table format, with a one-click edit function. New 'News' subjects are generated and saved on the same page.

Managing Specials

'Specials' can be a highly effective method of driving trade during quieter periods or as a means of filling a specific vacancy at the last minute. The layout is identical to the News management interface, with information on the various 'Specials' displayed in table form, an intuitive editing function and a same-page 'New Specials' creation form.

Managing Packages

'Packages' are a terrific promotional tool that prove enduringly popular with customers. They generally include complimentary features and run between certain specified dates, for a fixed price. New and existing 'packages' are created and edited on individual webpages to allow for comprehensive tailoring of detail.

Managing Bookings

To allow for more specific operations, Fido filters bookings into categories. Once a category is selected, bookings are displayed in a table that details the ID number, customer name, accommodation and dates of the reservation. Detailed information for each booking is managed and manipulated by selecting the 'View' operation. All the customer's details are fully editable, and the status of the booking can be modified with immediate effect. Customers' credit card details are encrypted for greater security, accessible to those administrators with special privilege.
